Just a quick note to let everyone know that I have been accepted into a Masters programme in Modern literature at the University of the West of England!!! I am still dumbfounded that while I was rejected from 5 teacher certification programs, I was accepted to my first choice for a M.A. Regardless, I will be studying what I love and after my year of nerdiness (the M.A. program at U.W.E. is only 12 months) I will have a two year work visa in the U.K., making it much easier to find a job :) It will be strange to be sitting in a desk again after a year at center stage...I'll have much more sympathy for the professor if he's nervous or doesn't grade papers as quick as I would like him to :) Anyway, I will start at the end of September, so until then...ABSOLUTELY NOTHING...I should enjoy being able to read whatever suits my fancy (which at the moment is Candace Bushnell's "Lipstick Jungle", I feel like I can justify it because she is an ex-Rice student), I have forgotten what the student life is like...
I have included the website for the Masters programme, in case y'all want to see what I will be studying (nerds tend to believe that others are as interested in their studies as they are) :)

Ah...the wisdom that comes with just one year of teaching, or as I sometimes like to call it - the task of trying to impart knowledge upon unsuspecting youths who are clearly in the middle of a monstorous adolescent journey or more simply put - beating my head against the cinder block wall while they try to get out of working. However, I love it and wouldn't give it up - unless I won the lottery!
Meriam-Webster defines nerd as "an unstylish or socially inept person especially one slavishly devoted to intellectual pursuits." So, what percentage of nerd are you? Unstylish? I think not. Socially inept? Hmm...perhaps in your "younger" days. Slavishly devoted? Nah...just using your time wisely. So, enjoy the literature and perhaps then you can find work that stimulates your "intellectual pursuits."
Now tell the truth...are you practicing your British accent??? Buggers! I am right this second.
Bye for now!

D'yon, I'm excited for you! Hurray for having a new purpose in life again! I can't wait to visit. Or meet you somewhere. We really need to start making plans so I can get all happy about it! Until then, I'll think of you constantly as I try to get geared up for my first year as the teacher...I'm sure I'll be bugging you for advice! Bisous, ma puce and I mango you like crazy!
Oh, and I thought you would appreciate the fact that I bought Steel Magnolias yesterday for $5--I think I'm going to give it to Anne's parents in Germany as a host gift. ;)
